We believe that the major car manufacturers spend millions of dollars developing a product that is suitable for use on Australian roads. So therefore, when building a hot rod or modified vehicle, it is far easier to use and certify a product that has already been tested and approved by Australian Standards. Holden, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Nissan, and Mitsubishi just to name a few, spend millions of dollard researching and developing their products.
If you look at the true origins of hot-rodding and vehicle modifications, it was to modify and build a car from what you had available to you.
So many of the products that are made today are not made for Australian conditions and do not have Australian Standards certification. It is far simpler to certify the installation of a product which is already approved by Australian Standards. And as we all know, the easier something is to do, the cheaper it becomes.
